Speaker Bio:
Dr. Sabrina Racine-Brzostek is an Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Assistant Medical Director of Central Laboratories, and Director of Coagulation Testing at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell.  Together with her colleagues at Weill Cornell Medicine, she conducted research on the COVID-19 antibody response during the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City.  She also has published in the fields of transfusion medicine and coagulation.  She received her MD/PhD from Stony Brook University, completed her residency training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and became board certified in Transfusion Medicine after finishing the joint Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Program at New York Blood Center and New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell.

Abstract:
It has been over a year since COVID-19 vaccines were first administered to the public in the United States.  This webinar will review a selection of manuscripts describing the antibody response to SARS-CoV-2 infection and the COVID-19 vaccines.  COVID-19 variants and new CDC recommendations regarding boosters will also be touched upon.

Objectives:

  1. Review the general serological response to SARS-CoV-2 and the COVID-19 vaccine.
  2. Discuss whether SARS-CoV-2 serology tests could evaluate an individual’s level of immunity.
  3. Review the evolving CDC COVID-19 vaccine recommendations.
