This award is presented annually to an emerging leader in the field of transfusion medicine—someone who has stepped forward to demonstrate exceptional leadership and innovation. Nominees must meet the following qualifications:
Nominations may be submitted by any BBANYS member in good standing; self-nominations are permitted. The winner of this award receives a complimentary admission to the BBANYS Annual Meeting, and a complimentary admission for a guest to attend the Annual Business Meeting and Awards Presentation and luncheon. |

Barb Gonnella was a dedicated leader who contributed significantly to BBANYS through her work on the newsletter, annual meetings, and numerous organizational initiatives. This award is given in memory of her commitment and service to BBANYS.

This award is presented annually to a laboratory professional who has gone above and beyond in advancing the transfusion medicine and cellular therapy profession and supporting the mission of BBANYS. The BBANYS Board of Directors will select the winner from all nominations received, and the award will be announced at the Annual BBANYS Business Meeting.
Nominees must be BBANYS members in good standing. BBANYS Board members may not be nominated for this award, and self‑nominations are not accepted. The winner will receive one complimentary admission for a guest to attend the Annual Business Meeting and Awards Presentation and luncheon.
Nominations for this award may only be submitted by a BBANYS Board member. This award recognizes an individual who has served in a leadership capacity for BBANYS (such as on the Board of Directors or as a Committee Chair) and who has significantly advanced both the profession and the organization.
The nominee must be a current or past BBANYS member in good standing (retired past presidents are also eligible). The BBANYS Nominating Committee will select the winner, and the award will be announced at the BBANYS Annual Business Meeting. The winner will receive one complimentary admission for a guest to attend the Annual Business Meeting and Awards Presentation and luncheon.
