Matt has more professional titles than imaginable: Associate Professor of Pathology, Assistant Director of Blood Bank, Director of Hemapheresis, Director of Transfusion Medicine, Medical Director of Upstate Cord Blood Bank, and Associate Residency Program Director of Pathology. And he still found time to serve in BBANYS Board leadership (Board member, President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President) from 2014 until 2024. His service to BBANYS included chairing and serving on numerous committees, chairing the annual Conference, coordinating AV for the conference for numerous years, and even storing conference materials at his home for multiple years (yes, he still finds time to maintain a home and family). Matt has been the BBANYS “Go To Guy” for a many years, and even now with stepping back from his Board position is always only a phone call or email away when we need his help or input. BBANYS owes a huge debt of gratitude to Matt and we are proud to name him the first BBANYS Outstanding Leadership Award winner.
