DEDICATED TO IMPROVING TRANSFUSION MEDICINE AND CELLULAR THERAPY
Matthew Elkins completed his MD and PhD in Cell and Structural Biology at the University of Illinois - Champaign-Urbana and AP/CP Pathology Residency at the University of Michigan. He then stayed at the University of Michigan for Transfusion Medicine/Blood Banking Fellowship. After graduation, he joined the faculty at SUNY Upstate Medical University. He is now the Transfusion Medicine Director and is the Medical Director for SUNY Upstate's Apheresis Service, Stem Cell lab, and the newly opening SUNY Upstate Cord Blood Bank. He is also an Associate Director for SUNY Upstate's Pathology residency.
Matt is first and foremost an educator, who has been teaching in one capacity or another since starting graduate school. He loves learning, discussing, and teaching transfusion medicine with people of all levels of training, from lay public to physicians. He is a big fan of utilizing technology to enhance learning in as much as possible and loves finding new ways to connect with learners from across the state.
